Today the border between North Rhine-Westphalia and Hesse is located here, clearly marked with a historical boundary stone. The border triangle of North Rhine-Westphalia - Hesse - Lower Saxony is located on the opposite slope of the Weser near the Skywalk. Until a few decades ago (territory exchange between North Rhine-Westphalia and Lower Saxony on the right side of the Weser), the border triangle was in the Weser. The error presumably stems from the triangular historical boundary stone. Then as now, however, this simply marks a corner of the border. At that time it was the Bishopric of Paderborn (cross) and the Landgraviate of Hesse (lion) that bordered one another here; today it is their successor states, North Rhine-Westphalia and Hesse.
