The three-aisled Gothic basilica was built in the 14th and 15th centuries partly from limestone (tower), but mostly from brick. The four-storey tower made of limestone blocks dates from the 14th century, the nine-nave nave from the first half of the 15th century and the west building enclosing the tower from the early 16th century.

History:
In the 15th century a new basilica of 8 bays was built. At that time the west tower had stood for about 100 years. In 1518 the church was renewed. In 1860 the church was fundamentally restored and renovated according to plans by Johann Burkart from Aachen. Archaeological discoveries were made during the renovation of the heating system in 1978.
Architecture:
The church is a brick basilica. The completely rebuilt tower is made of sandstone blocks. The nave is vaulted with ribs and has nine axes. The choir consists of five sides of the octagon. The side aisles have a straight end, the westwork is closed with a gable.
