        The connecting canal to the Leine (VKL), formerly also known as the Leine connecting canal or Leine descent canal, connects the Mittelland Canal with the Leine. Unlike the other connecting canals of the Mittelland Canal (MLK), it does not branch off directly from the Mittelland Canal, but rather from the Hanover-Linden branch canal.
