    A beautiful cold-water lake. The water is crystal clear, but you're not allowed to enter the lake. Stunning views in all directions. Benches around the lake invite you to take a short break.

      The Kaltwassersee is an artificial reservoir located just below the Rosshütte mid-station; accessible on foot (a few hundred meters downhill) from the Rosshütte funicular; a popular photo spot with a panoramic bench and views of the Wetterstein Mountains and Zugspitze, among others.

      Swimming/bathing is prohibited (a technical reservoir used for snowmaking).

      Typical route: Rosshütte valley station → funicular (usually 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. in summer) to the mid-station; easy walking and circular trails lead from the lake (family-friendly, also a great stop on tours to the Rosshütte/Seefelder Spitze).

      A great place for a leisurely hike.
