The Deffeyes refuge is an alpine structure located at 2,500 meters above sea level, in the Graian Alps. Built in 1953, it is dedicated to Albert Deffeyes, an important supporter of the Aosta Valley cause. The refuge is located at the foot of the Testa del Rutor and the Rutor glacier, in an area full of alpine lakes. The Alta Via della Valle d'Aosta 2 passes here.

The Deffeyes refuge, base for the ascent to Rutor, stands in an enchanting position on the edge of a large valley that separates it from the end of the glacier (a valley occupied in part by the Lower Lake of Rutor). From the refuge you can enjoy a wide view of the glacier, characterized by Le Vedettes which rise right in its center. On the right there is the small church of S. Margherita, built between 1606 and 1607 to protect the valley from the terrible floods caused by ephemeral lakes formed by ice.
