The eco-lodge Selva Bananito is an exceptional example of successful eco-tourism. Here you will find nature and adventure experiences embedded in one of the most beautiful regions of the Caribbean side of Costa Rica: the Talamanca Mountains. The Selva Bananito private reserve is an ecologically important buffer zone and transition area to the 'La Amistad' national park, which was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1983.
Selva Bananito has earned worldwide recognition for exemplary eco-tourism in Costa Rica and was voted one of the eight best eco-lodges in the country in 2008 (TIMES Online Edition, September 2008, UK).
In December 2010, the lodge received the highest level of the 'Certificate for Sustainable Tourism' (5 sheets), which is awarded by the National Tourism Institute of Costa Rica (ICT).
Costa Rican eco-tourism demands sustainability and Selva Bananito is an example of respectful treatment of nature. The operators are committed to protecting and conserving Costa Rica's natural resources. Among other things, they run a water protection project that secures the drinking water supply in the area around Limón and thus provides the basis for socio-economic development in the villages.
