Only with the construction of the bridge in 1512 did Ochsenfurt gain economic importance. In 1803 Ochsenfurt came to Kurbayern and from 1806 to the Grand Duchy of Würzburg. In 1813 the city became part of the Kingdom of Bavaria. The Main Bridge was destroyed in World War II, but the old town was spared. In 1972 the district of Ochsenfurt (vehicle registration number OCH) was dissolved. Since then, the city has been part of the Würzburg district. Since July 8, 2013, the old license plate "OCH" can again be applied for at the Würzburg district office.
