Follow in the footsteps of the glass industry, peat extraction and today's renaturation of the former extraction areas.

Located in the northern part of the Teufelsmoor, Gnarrenburg can look back on a history of more than 225 years of the glass industry. There were once four glass factories in the region, of which the most important glassworks developed and produced a special medicine bottle called “the drop counter”. The peat deposits in the region served as energy suppliers.

You can learn a lot about the Gnarrenburg glass industry in the "Gnarrenburg Glass Museum". The historical moor farm in Augustendorf offers insights into the life of a typical moor farming family.
