International landscape art in the middle of the Lüneburg Heath

A tree is upside down, noises come from an erratic block, a panorama painting is hidden in an attic and you can experience yourself on the surface of a gigantic spatula between heaven and earth.

Since the 1970s, there have been more than thirty site-specific installations by artists such as Tony Cragg, Mark Dion, Claus Bury, Timm Ulrichs, Dan Peterman, Christina Kubisch, HAWOLI, Jan on forest clearings and meadows, on field drains and lakeside around the Heidedorf Neuenkirchen Meyer-Rogge, Elmgreen & Dragset and Jeppe Hein were created.

Some works gently intervene in the natural environment, others seek sculptural contrast, create exciting spaces, make natural processes experienceable or operate with a conceptual sense. Many objects are accessible, have attractive locations off the beaten path and open unusual perspectives on an old cultural landscape.

The starting point for an exploration tour is the Springhornhof in the center of Neuenkirchen. In the converted stables of the historic courtyard, changing events on culture in rural areas take place.
