Just under Gerd's grave
"Gerhard Kruis" alias "Knapp Gerd" from Suttrup "killed his comrade Gerhard Heinrich Langeborg from Andervenne on his way back from the Netherlands on September 13, 1824. Gerhard Kruis was sentenced to death by beheading after lengthy criminal proceedings. The last execution in the Lingen area took place on him in 1825, in view of a large crowd. It was carried out at the place of execution on the Gierenberg in Laxtener Feld. According to witness statements, the grave was located right next to the execution site.
