The highest source of the Spree is on the western slope of the Kottmar at a height of 478 meters. In 1921, a semi-circular phonolite stone wall was built around the source in a slope niche on the Kottmar, from which the Eibauer Spreequelle, also known as Buchenborn, emerges.
