The number 1 cycle bridge in Freiburg and a popular connection between the train station area / Grün and the Stühlinger district.
In 2012, an automatic bicycle counter was inaugurated, whose quite interesting measurements are displayed: daily counter (15,000 cyclists were measured daily on sunny days!) and annual total as well as the (theoretically) saved CO²!

Built in 1886 as a railway bridge, later a tram and car bridge, since 1996 a pedestrian and cyclist bridge and in 2003 renamed Wiwilibrücke after Freiburg's twin city.

The Wiwilí Bridge (also known as the Stühlinger Bridge because of its painting, the Blue Bridge, before the construction of the light rail bridge) connects the Stühlinger district of Freiburg with the old town. The bridge is named after the town of Wiwilí in Nicaragua, where the Freiburg residents Berndt Koberstein and Albrecht “Tonio” Pflaum were murdered by the Contras during a humanitarian aid mission. In 1996 the bridge was closed to motor vehicle traffic and only opened to bicycle and pedestrian traffic. The bridge is now a listed building and is used as a bicycle route by up to 10,000 cyclists per day (as of 2008).
