Winchelsea Beach is one of the few remaining relatively undeveloped parts of the south coast. Slightly inland, between the coast road and the sea, is this odd shingle landscape known as "The Ridges" - shingle and rugged land with a jumble of 1930s bungalows dotted along the dirt roads. The whole area is highly appreciated by those who love fresh air - flocks of birds and open and empty spaces. The beach is calm and never crowded with pebbles at high tide and flat sand at low tide.

The ancient town of the same name lies further inland, as the sea has since receded from the town which was destroyed in the 13th century due to flooding.

Rye Harbour Nature Reserve is nearby, to the east.

Winchelsea Beach is a seaside village in the parish of Icklesham in the Rother district of East Sussex, England. The village is located about ten miles east of Hastings, and about 1.5 miles south east of Winchelsea. The beach itself faces Rye Bay, the estuary of the River Rother. Wikipedia
