On August 1, 1004, Aderstedt was first mentioned in a deed of donation by King Henry II to Drübeck Abbey as Atherstedi.

The Counts of Regenstein had possession here as borrowers of the Halberstadt monastery, which they borrowed from ministerials who named themselves after the place, first mentioned in 1212 with Giselbertus de Aderstide. In 1343 the Regenstein family had to cede their fiefdom to the Counts of Wernigerode. The Lords of Aderstedt also acquired property in the area. Margarete von Aderstedt brought Aderstedt to the Messrs. Spiegel by marriage at the beginning of the 15th century.

They were followed in 1544 by the Lords of Veltheim. The Aderstedter line of the Veltheims went out in 1726, another line followed until 1854. The original moated castle was replaced by a baroque manor, which the brothers Josias and Friedrich August von Veltheim started in 1767, after the death of Josias was completed by his brother in 1771. There are epitaphs of the family in the church.

On September 30, 1928 the estate district of Aderstedt was united with the rural community of Aderstedt.

The place was formerly called Aderstedt am Bruch or Moorbruch.

On April 1, 2002, the former municipality of Aderstedt, together with the other ten municipalities of the dissolved administrative community Huy, formed the new community Huy.
