    "The water supply of the city of Wismar has a long history and generates respect for the engineering masterpiece of past centuries.
    The old water tower at Lindengarten from the second half of the 15th century is the last remaining defense tower of the medieval city fortifications. From 1682 it was integrated into the city's water supply network. Until 1897, the tower at Lindengarten fed water into the pipeline network.

      The former defense tower at Lindengarten, together with the water gate, is one of the last remaining parts of the former defense system.
