The construction of the hut goes back to an initiative in 1908 by Ralf Malcher (1880–1957), co-founder of the Baden (near Vienna) section of the German and Austrian Alpine Club (DuOeAV), which was re-established on February 3, 1905, and future first hut warden, as a result of which the shell of the hut was built by a construction company at its camp site in Mödling in 1910. In 1950, the Baden section of the German Alpine Association (DAV) became the Baden branch of the Austrian Alpine Association (ÖAV). In 1970/71, the winter hut was built (to accommodate up to eight people); in 1982/83, several additions and extensions were removed from the main building and replaced by a spacious porch that was more beneficial to the overall appearance. Between 1995 and 1998, the guest room was gradually enlarged, the drinking water supply was rebuilt in accordance with the authorities' requirements, and a small power plant was created for the electricity supply; a small sewage disposal plant followed in 1999.
