Moggio Udinese lies at 341 meters above sea level and is surrounded by the high peaks of the Julian Alps and the Carnic Alps. The foundation of the village dates back to Roman times. Attractions include the Abbey of San Gallo and the palace with dungeons and medieval tower in Moggio di Sopra. In the northwestern hinterland of Moggio Udinese in the middle of the Carnic Alps are the three mountain villages Moggessa di Quà, Moggessa di Là and Stavoli, all of which are car-free to this day.
