The Hölzleberg is uniquely situated at an altitude of 500 m with a wonderful view over the Rhine valley to the Vosges.
The Gmeiner family is now the 6th generation to run the farm.
Extensive genealogical research enables us to trace the history of the court back to the 1600s.

The Gmeiner family originated in Austria. From there she escaped from Bavaria to the Black Forest in 1741 before the War of the Austrian Succession. In 1800 the first Gmeiner from Peterstal came to Hölzleberg.

In 1809, Johannes Gmeiner and his wife Agatha Hurst built the storage building between the two houses that has been preserved to this day. The 200th anniversary was celebrated in 2009 with a large court festival.

The grandparents of today's generation were among the first to offer "Farm Holidays" with a small pension back in 1960. Back then, the Hölzleberg was a classic self-catering farm with cattle, dairy farming, agriculture, distillery and forestry.

This changed Josef Gmeiner who gave up all cattle breeding in 1996. He specialized in the marketing of fine spirits that result from the self-managed orchards. The sale of firewood and Christmas trees has also increased significantly. The offer "Holidays on the farm" still exists today. The guests particularly appreciate the exceptional tranquility and beautiful nature.

The farm is still used as a main occupation.
