Eichhof Castle is located here. It has a square basic shape and was originally a Gothic moated castle. In the 16th century it was then converted into a castle.

Today the seat of the Agricultural Center of the State of Hesse is located in the castle. In summer, however, the castle is transformed into the backdrop of the Bad Hersfeld Festival, which is performed here.

The castle has a square basic shape, which was initially a one-storey Gothic moated castle. The mighty square keep was built on the southern corner of the four castle wings. The castle was built of red sandstone. The gate to the inner courtyard leads through the south-west wing of the castle. This facility was surrounded by a moat. In front of this moat on the southwest side of the castle there was another outer bailey, which in turn was surrounded by another moat.
In the 16th century, the castle was expanded into a palace in the Renaissance style. This became a summer residence for the abbots. The building received Renaissance gables and another half-timbered floor as well as magnificent wood paneling on the inside.
Since then, the appearance of the palace has changed little. The outer stone walls and keep of the first castle remained almost unchanged.
