The area is located within the extensive Rembertów-Okuniewskie Forest complex covering the eastern part of the Warsaw Valley (mesoregion of the Wołomin Plain). From the west, this area borders with the Warsaw agglomeration. From the second half of the 19th century it was used as a training ground for land forces.
Forests (mainly mixed) cover about half of the area, the remaining part is covered by dunes, sandy beaches, meadows, thickets and wetland vegetation.
The area is a very interesting example of postglacial sculpture with a specific geological structure and geomorphologically diverse landscape. Wind surface parabolic dunes and winded sand fields dominate the surface formations.
