This bridge, which is particularly worth seeing, is named after Christian Staassen, who served as a bridge keeper from 1911 to 1945 on the lock, drawbridge and bascule bridges on the Aper Tief. The bascule bridge spanned the Aper Tief until 1991 and formed an ensemble with the neighboring bascule bridge over the Nordloher Canal. Due to its limited carrying capacity, it was relocated to its current location on the Augustfehn Canal at the mouth of the Aper Tief.
