The dominant building on the square - Obermarkt 24 - is the broad town hall standing on the northeast side of the market square, which was built between 1410 and 1474 and into which parts of a previous building were included. On the first floor there is the Lorenz chapel (1514) and, since 1986, a carillon made of Meissen porcelain with twelve bells, which intones the Steiger song “Glück auf, Glück auf, der Steiger is coming” daily at 11:15 am and 4:15 pm.
