The Gileppe Dam is a dam in Belgium near the Limbourg district of Goé between Eupen and Verviers. The main tributary is the stream of the same name that rises in the High Fens. Its original purpose was to regulate the amount of water used by the textile industry in the Weser valley.

Even when the region was under French occupation from 1795 to 1815, initial investigations were carried out to build a dam in the upper reaches of the Weser and the Hill, which was primarily intended to ensure a consistent water supply for the domestic cloth industry, which was flourishing at the time in the towns of Eupen, Dolhain, Verviers and Ensival, which had settled along the river.

But it was only years after the region around Eupen became Prussian in 1815 and the region around Verviers became Belgian territory in 1830 that the plan to build a dam was resumed in 1838.
So the city of Verviers submitted a request to the Belgian central government on June 13, 1860 to build the Gileppe dam. A year later, the government finally approved the construction and a subsidy of five million Belgian francs. Work on the dam began in 1867 and King Leopold II was able to inaugurate the new dam on July 28, 1878.
