L62 "Groene 62" (23.9 km without interruption incl. Bf. Oostende connection, about 20.4 km on the route): mostly shadow-free and unspectacular by agricultural and marshes on a 3 m wide, initially fine gravel, from Torhout apa tended way. Cycling and walking between Torhout and Ostend
This green axis connects Ostend (Konterdamkaai) with Torhout (Aartrijksestraat). With its 22 km, this old railway is the longest of all green axes. From the coast it successively cuts through the medieval polders, the historic polders, the sand ridge of Gistel, Moere-Nieuwland, the plain around Eernegem and the Wijnendale plateau. Not only the landscape but also the flora provides a beautiful variety.

Some railway infrastructure was preserved along the way: the Moere station, the station well in Eernegem, the excavations and bridges in Wijnendale, the elevated railway beds through the Ostend creeks..., completely traffic-free, making it an ideal cycling route.

Fantastic cycleway based on the ancient railway from Torhout to Ostend. It starts in Torhout just before a playground for kids 'De Warande'. Along the way you have some crossings with ordinary roads, be aware. There are a couple of nice tearooms along the road (Wynendale - Gistel - Oudenburg) and at the end it crosses an area of natural beauty with some viewpoints.
