THE WONDERFUL #GIAGGIOLO (or #iris)!

On the #Setteponti, in the direction of #Firenze, at this time of the year, you can admire the fields where the #giaggiolo is grown. Its cultivation began in Tuscany in the mid-1800s, reaching significant production quantities thanks to the demand from French and northern European companies for the use of iris powder in perfumery and distilleries.

The Tuscan product is highly sought after and competitive due to the qualitative and quantitative characteristics of its components.

The typical cultivation areas are the two hilly and mountainous areas of the #Pratomagno Aretino, crossed by the Setteponti, where I took this photo between #Reggello and #PiandiSco ', and of the Florentine Chianti.

Iris is a rustic plant grown on the edge of terraced fields, in soils not suitable for other crops.
