    The Würzburger- or Galgentor is one of 5 drivable gates into the city. The name Galgentor comes from the fact that it used to be the place of execution with the gallows in front of the gate, on the so-called Köpfleinswieslein. It is the highest point of the Rothenburg city fortifications. The Galgentorturm was built around 1388.

      The Galgentor, also known as the Würzburger Tor, was built in 1388 and is one of the five gates of the city of Rothenburg ob der Tauber that can be driven through. The name Galgentor goes back to the time when the city's place of execution with the gallows was located in front of the gate on what was then Köpfleinswieslein. The Galgenturm was also the highest point of the city fortifications - the defensive wall in the east of Rothenburg.
