The old town hall was built around 1500. It had a small bell to call the citizens when needed on the market. The accompanying Ratskeller also served "beers and wines of a foreign kind".
When the building was no longer sufficient, they wanted to move the town hall into the castle. For a conversion already a plan and a model was created. However, things did not turn out as planned and in 1884/85 the new town hall building was built on the same site as the old town hall.
The building is built in the style of the German early Renaissance from Saxon sandstone.
Worth seeing is the staircase, which has been placed in a 6-edged cultivation. The conclusion of the staircase is a wooden star vault.
At the southwestern corner on the first floor (town council meeting room), a 2.5 meter high sandstone statue of the king who fell here is attached to the outside, he is dressed in contemporary style and carries a commander's staff and sword with him.
