This tour offers a unique insight into the torn Morteratsch glacier and the ice giants of the Bernina massif.
The starting point of this hike is the Morteratsch station of the Rhaetian Railway. The center of the tour is the vegetation of the lively glacier foreland, the marked glacier educational trail with information on the retreat of the glacier and the Chünetta vantage point, which translates to "little cradle".
16 stopping points are marked on the educational trail to the Morteratsch Glacier. You can find information on this in the book «Lebendiges Gletschervorfeld». On the way back, the Chünetta vantage point is right on the edge of the path, with close-up views of the mighty glacier streams and mighty peaks.
The descent to Morteratsch takes place through sparse forest.
