Egloffstein Castle is a former high medieval aristocratic castle located immediately west of the town of the same name, Egloffstein, in the Upper Franconian district of Forchheim in Bavaria.

The spur castle is located in the Franconian Switzerland-Veldenstein Forest Nature Park at an altitude of 443 meters on a two-sided, east-facing rocky outcrop of the Rabenstein, about 80 meters above the town in the Trubach Valley in Franconian Switzerland.

Egloffstein was first mentioned indirectly in 1180 with a Henricus de Hegelofuesten, but it was only in 1358 that the sources found a castle chaplain. After a feud with the Bamberg bishop, the monastery in 1376 enforced opening rights for certain parts of the castle. The castle survived the town war (1377-1389) and the 1st margrave war (1449-1450) without major damage, but was burned down during disputes with the bishop in 1525 and 1563. In the years 1632 and 1645 of the Thirty Years' War, the castle was again so badly damaged that it was no longer fully built. In the 18th and 19th centuries, several conversions and additions gave it its current shape. Egloffstein Castle is still the headquarters of the noble family of the same name.
