The Gilfenklamm is good and not very difficult to walk on and really interesting. Already around 100 years people walk through the gorge and are happy about the sometimes really thundering torrents and waterfalls.
The way back can be made over the road or through the forest.
Personally, I went the same way through the gorge, because you see the gorge from the other side and open up completely new views.
Conclusion: highly recommended

The Gilfenklamm can be safely accessed by young and old. Secure footbridges, wooden bridges and stairs lead along the gorge, always close to the rocks and the watercourse. The view always falls on the roaring torrent that makes its way through the gorge.

The path leads from the village of Stange (3 km from Vipiteno, at the entrance to the valley) on the signposted path along the stream to the toll booth and from there up the Gilfenklamm to our Gasthof Jaufensteg (220 meters above sea level). After about an hour of climbing through the gorge, you can have a leisurely lunch on our sun terrace or enjoy the delicious apple strudel with coffee.

Everyone who is on holiday in Vipiteno and its holiday valleys should at least once hike through the Gilfenklamm, one of the unique sights of the Alps. Especially in early summer when the snow melts, it offers a magnificent natural spectacle. The water rushes through a gorge made of Ratschinger marble. At one point there is a surprising 15 m high waterfall, which can be seen particularly impressively from the bridge high above it. The lower entrance is in Stange (971 m), the upper one at Jaufensteg (1149 m), on the road from Stange to Ratschingstal. Difference in altitude: 175 m
Difficulty level: easy
Walking time: up 1 hour – down 45 minutes.
