The legend of the Solse Gat
The Solse Gat is a mysterious place in the middle of the Veluwe. In the old forests near Drie there is a large hole in the middle of the forest, the Solse Gat. The villagers heard the most terrible noises. This lasted until a stormy Christmas night centuries ago.
The monastery disappeared into the ground with a huge clap of thunder. All that remained was a gruesome pit. Since then, if you listen carefully, you can hear the monastery bells ringing hoarsely around midnight. Some even see a blue glow rising from the hole. Fortunately, when the sun rises, it seems as if nothing has happened. The dancing trees together with the Solse Gat form a beautiful picture. You can sit on the benches at the Solse Gat and ponder all the exciting stories.
