The view! He is gorgeous. In clear weather you have to be able to watch endless, with typical summer haze but clear to the Zugspitze, in the foothills of the Alps with all the lakes around Murnau and much further. The ascent is well developed from the Herzogstand hut. Nevertheless - be careful, the gravel and some steps can be slippery. Nothing for flip-flops.

Of course, the Herzogstand is a very popular destination, especially in beautiful mountain weather. I advise everyone of the masses on the mountain not to look for alternatives (like the Hirschberg and Ölrain next door!). However, the view is magnificent and that's why the mountain is so popular. In winter certainly not so crowded and the ridge in winter (attention! Only for advanced skiers!) Has its charm. Another highlight is the north rise, which, however, is also only something for very experienced mountaineers and should be better done with GPS navigation. The Pionierweg is currently closed due to forest work!
