The castle of Saint-Ulrich (530 meters) is the largest and best preserved of the three castles of Ribeauvillé. Built around the middle of the 13th century on a rocky outcrop, the castle underwent successive enlargements. The most remarkable is the addition of a wing composed of two large rooms superimposed and lit on the side by a double row of seven semi-circular windows.

Ortisei is the best preserved and the most impressive of the three castle ruins. From here and also from the slightly lower castle Girsberg you have a fantastic view. The castle Hohrappoltstein is another 100 meters higher. Lt. a sign is forbidden to enter the ruin, however, on 01.10.2017 the gate was open and some visitors have ventured despite the warning on the tower.
The castle ruins are a popular destination. Even during the week there was a lot going on here in moderate weather. Therefore, if possible do not visit on weekends and "The early bird catches the worm." :)
