The Westerholter Teich is fed by the Westerholter Bach. The Westerholter Bach arises in the Senne just above the district of Oerlinghausen as the outflow of a pond north of Stukenbrock. This pond is also traversed by the Schnakenbach stream, receives an inlet of an anonymous body of water and is referred to as deer springs.

Following the flattening of the Teutoburg Forest, the Westerholter Bach flows in a south-westerly direction and is dammed up for fish farming after just a few hundred meters. After crossing the breeding facility, the water flows through the Stukenbrock settlement area, takes up the Schnakenbach in a wooded area below the cemetery and flows into the Ölbach just a few meters away.
