Milling in the Ekerner Mühle continued until 1963.

The forerunner of the current Ekerner Mühle was built in 1865.
In 1910 it fell victim to the flames and was replaced by a gallery Dutchman.

The Ekerner Mühle is a special kind of monument. A recessed three-story octagon was built on a two-storey square. In addition, the most modern method at the time was used after its inventor Monier (concrete with iron reinforcement).

In 1945 the mill was so badly damaged that it could no longer be operated with wind power. A suction gas motor was installed for this purpose, which can still be started for demonstration purposes today.

The mill was in operation until 1963, after which it was no longer used and fell into disrepair.

In October 1992, the Ekern Mill Association was founded, which set itself the task of renovating the listed building.

Work began in 1996 with EU funds and many donations.
