      The MS Aquamarin (formerly Sauerland, built in 1968, LUX Werft) operates a tourist cruise on the Oker Reservoir from the beginning of March to the beginning of January (only on weekends during the off-season). The long round trip on the MS Aquamarin takes about 1.5 hours and can be started from any pier.[13] This scheduled cruise is the highest (above sea level) in Lower Saxony. Furthermore, the reservoir is used by numerous private, non-motorized vessels during the warmer months. Swimming and diving are permitted outside of designated areas, for example, near the dam. In winter, ice bathing events take place when the ice is thick enough to support the vessel.

        The Oker Reservoir can be completely circumnavigated on foot and by non-motorized vehicle on roads and paths. Between the foreshore and main dams, there is an almost entirely paved roadway, which is used by cyclists, inline skaters, and roller skiers; only the path between the foreshore and Altenau is unpaved. During the summer months, the federal highway B498 (northern approach to Torfhaus) sees heavy motorcycle traffic on weekends. Several restaurants are located along the reservoir: a restaurant in the Altenau district of Gemkenthal, the Brückenschänke (bridge inn) near the Weißwasser Bridge, and the Café Okerterrasse (café at the dam). A campsite is located at the dam's headwaters to the Oker River.
