      The Waldglashütte am Lakenborn was one of the largest and most important in the Weser Uplands when it was in operation. Using comparable glassworks, it is assumed that the hut had up to 25 employees and that around 50 people lived in the associated settlement. The remains of the glassworks from the 17th century (operated between 1655-1682) aroused the interest of local history researcher Otto Bloss, but it was not until 2003 and 2007 that the remains were subjected to a thorough archaeological investigation. A large number of finds were recovered here. There is a lot more information on several display boards on site. The partial reconstruction of the main furnace, protected by a wooden roof structure, is very clear. It is also interesting that the glassworks is older than the pond (therefore it is probably not referred to as "am Lakenteich") - the pond was only dammed in the 18th century after the glassworks had long since been abandoned.
