The Maierhalde, a point on the Albtrauf near Donzdorf-Kuchalb in the district of Göppingen, is considered one of the most beautiful viewpoints in the entire Swabian Alb.
The view from the Maierhalde is dominated by the very turbulent Albtrauf and the witness mountains in front of the Albtrauf. At the Maierhalde there is a field cross, a panorama board and a seating area.
For example, the three Kaiser mountains Hohenstaufen, Rechberg and Stuifen are visible. Important cornerstones of the Albtrauf such as the Kaltes Feld, the Messelstein and the Hohenstein can also be seen. You can also see the Filstal and parts of the Lautertal, a side valley of the Filstal (there are several rivers on the Swabian Alb called Lauter).
