The port of Lindenau is about 4.5 km west of the city center. It connects the Gründerzeit city with the district of Grünau. Originally the port was planned as part of the Karl-Heine-Canal and the Leipzig-Saale-Canal, but the latter was never completed. The Karl Heine Canal is today an important green axis and water connection in the city. Along its course, attractive cycling and walking paths lead to the center. The Lindenau harbor has now been connected to the Karl-Heine-Kanal and can be used for recreation and recreation.

In the north of the harbor basin, the construction of a technical harbor with 200 berths - the future MARINA Leipzig-Lindenau - is intended. The historic storage buildings will give this marina an unmistakable character. This area houses basic tourist facilities and maritime industries.
