    North of the seaside resort of Binz, between Prora and Mukran, are the flint fields. Their uniqueness makes the Schmale Heide with the Steinfeldern a natural event of international rank.
    The nature reserve of the Schmale Heide is 40 hectares in size.
    The main component is 14 consecutive and about two kilometers long, running parallel to the Baltic coast scree walls. They are composed of 90 percent flint stones, the rest are crystalline bricks of Nordic origin. The gray-white shimmering Feuersteingeröll lies about 1 meter high.
    The stone walls were thrown up 3,500 to 4,000 years ago by a number of strong storm floods. At that time, the sea level was one to one and a half meters higher than today. The small Jasmunder Bodden was an open sea bay at that time.

If you do not find the perfect stone to take away, you will not find it anywhere. In summer, it gets really hot here, as hardly any trees provide shade. At the edge you can cool off in the forest. But it is also mosquito-free on the field ;-)
        Admission free, only parking may need to be paid, depending on where you stand.
