The Schmellbach flows through the rest area of the three fountains. This area and the source area of the three fountains were redesigned in partnership between the Swabian Alb Association, the Sindelfingen City Forestry Office and the Dinkelacker family brewery.

The "Three Wells" are located at the easternmost end of Sindelfingen's city forest, about ten kilometers from Sindelfingen. A municipal circular hiking trail leads directly past them. The spring area is designated a natural monument. The section of forest in which the "Three Wells" are located was transferred from Rohr to Sindelfingen on April 3, 1562, through negotiations by Balthasar von Gültlingen, hereditary chamberlain and steward of the Duchy of Württemberg. The spring itself has been known for approximately 300 years.
