    As early as 1817, the Umlaufberg, the "Hermitage", located to the left of the Danube, opposite the Amalienfelsen, was included in the Princely Complex and equipped with a tea house or "Princely House" at its highest point. In 1853 the tea house was converted into a neo-Gothic "hermit chapel" consecrated to St. Meinrad, which, with its towering tower, made the entire park an eye-catcher that could be seen from afar. After a fire in 1947, the chapel was rebuilt as a modest wooden structure and has been used as a war memorial ever since.

    Recently, weddings have even been possible in the chapel. Since the Meinrad Chapel is not a catholic consecrated chapel, no catholic wedding services are possible here. Evangelical or free weddings can, however, be held here.
