The original chapel, built as a branch of the parish Otterstedt, was destroyed during the Thirty Years' War. In 1667/68 a new church was built.
Since 1842 it has a solid bell tower, which replaced the old wooden freestanding bell tower. In 1959, the church became independent, the church was named Christopherus Church. The church belongs to the Evangelical Lutheran parish Ottersberg.
It is definitely worth a visit.

In 1667/68 a massive nave was built; its freestanding bell tower was made of wood.
Inside the church on the wall above the altar to the left, an inscription commemorates a first restoration in 1721.
In the period of the Seven Years' War, the church served in 1757/58 as a grain magazine and a prisoner of war camp.
In 1806 the Ottersberg church received a new bell. In 1842, a massive bell tower was inaugurated, which was now structurally connected to the nave.

The altar
In 1829, the external masonry had been repaired by mortar application. In 1948, the mortar was removed. Thus, the old half-timbering came back in honor, which gives the exterior of the church even today its peculiar character.
In 1992, the Christophorus Church was closed for extensive restoration work. After two years, on the 4th of Advent in 1994, it was re-consecrated.
