The Sendenhof is one of four remaining Burgmannshöfen in Horstmar. Burgmannshöfe were once built in cities with the character of a fortress, mostly on or next to larger castles. The name Sendenhof goes back to the first known owner in 1366, Albert von Sende.

The Sendenhof is one of four preserved Burgmannshöfen in Horstmar in the Steinfurt / North Rhine-Westphalia district. It has been a listed building since January 29, 1985.

The Sendenhof connects seamlessly to the northern city gate, through which the street leads to the former castle. This makes it easy to see how closely the castle men were involved in the defense of the city and that even small courtyards were fortifications.
