Trieste is among all the magnificent cities of Italy an unsuspected gem! It is at the foot of the Dinaric Alps and ideally located on the edge of the Adriatic. The waterfront is therefore very important, even strategic. The old town has that fun mix of Austro-Hungarian architecture that you can't find anywhere else in Italy, and the charm of all major Italian cities. The old city has some great surprises in store for you, at every street corner and especially near its Grand Canal, which takes on the appearance of Venice at this precise location.
