If you prefer venturing off the beaten track, you’ll find the area around Gstaad is a hikers’ paradise. The routes in this Collection take you on the best tours of the hiking trail network, which covers more than 300 kilometres (185 mi). Following marked paths and trails, you’ll discover dramatic gorges, high-altitude routes from summit to summit and almost untouched landscapes. These hikes are full of special sights such as protected wetlands, a suspension bridge that connects two peaks, and open air rest stops complete with fire pits for a barbecue.
What you’ll also discover again and again on these routes is the special warmth of the cosy mountain huts and inns, where you can either stop for refreshments along the way or end your day of hiking bathing in the traditional mountain ambience. If you’re keen to combine this enjoyment with a bigger sporting challenge, you’ll also find hikes that pack in a few more metres of altitude.
