Any first timers to Saas-Fee and the Saas Valley, in the Swiss Canton of Valais, will sense it almost immediately. Up here, everything moves a little slower, almost in reverence to the intensely beautiful surroundings. At 1,800 metres (5,900 ft), surrounded by no less than 18 spectacular 4,000-metre (13,000 ft) peaks, Saas-Fee is nestled in a dreamy alpine world. Here, nature, stillness and adventure dance together. It’s the perfect destination for your next mountain biking holiday.

From your first night here, with the SaastalCard you can use the postbus and mountain railways free of charge, ideal for accessing the start points in comfort and ready to go. Between glaciers, rock faces and vibrant meadows, around 80 kilometres (50 mi) of varied trails await. Some are easygoing, allowing you to enjoy the scenery; others are technically challenging, a real test of skill. All boast sensational mountain views. With a bit of luck, you might spot cuddly marmots and the emblematic ibex.

From the practice course in the Bike Skills Park to the high-alpine trail at 3,200 metres (10,500 ft), there’s everything your heart could desire. If you’re wanting to take it easy and enjoy the Saas Valley to the fullest, you can rent an E-Bike and recharge at one of the many stations along the way.
