Pedalar de oeste a leste através do meio da Alemanha é possível na Rota Mittelland. A D-Route 4 de 1.000 quilômetros (600 mi) leva você pelo país, de um triângulo de fronteira a outro, do extremo oeste ao extremo leste da Alemanha. Você atravessa cinco estados federais e enfrenta um ganho de elevação considerável nas cordilheiras florestais de baixa montanha ao longo dessa rota variada.
Você começa em Aachen, muito perto de onde as fronteiras da Alemanha, Bélgica e Países Baixos se encontram. Daqui, você viaja via Bonn, Siegen, Bad Hersfeld, Erfurt, Chemnitz e Dresden até Zittau. Logo fora da cidade, no triângulo de fronteira da Alemanha, Polônia e República Tcheca, a Rota Mittelland termina e encontra a D-Route 12: komoot.com/collection/147. Ao longo do caminho, você passará por belas cordilheiras arborizadas, vales de rios selvagens e românticos, vastas paisagens que se abrem para vistas distantes fabulosas e maravilhosos locais culturais, como castelos medievais, palácios e cidades históricas.
Nesta Coleção, a Rota Mittelland é dividida em 17 etapas. O ponto de partida em Aachen é facilmente alcançado de trem. Você também encontrará uma estação no seu ponto final, Zittau, de onde poderá começar sua viagem de volta confortavelmente. O final de cada etapa é bem servido por acomodações e conexões com a rede ferroviária. Esta é uma das D-Routes mais exigentes, pois envolve um ganho de elevação significativo. Você pode querer dividir as etapas ainda mais ou usar uma e-bike, dependendo da sua condição física.
A Rota Mittelland faz parte da Rede de Ciclismo Alemã e é uma parte integral do Plano Nacional de Ciclismo do governo alemão. As 12 rotas de ciclismo de longa distância e a Rota de Ciclismo da Unidade Alemã conectam todas as regiões da Alemanha com conexões norte-sul e oeste-leste. Para isso, rotas de ciclismo de longa distância existentes, rotas de rios ou rotas temáticas são interligadas entre si, unidas em locais atraentes e emocionantes e integradas à rede Eurovelo existente.
