The Tønder water tower (German: Tondern) is a clinker brick tower at the Tøndermarsken site, a short distance from today's modern town hall in the small town of Tønder in Syddanmark. After it was decommissioned as a water tower, it was decided to use it as a museum in the 1980s. A charitable foundation based on A.P. Møller and H.C. Mc-Kinney Møller (Maersk), a few years later donated an amount equivalent to around 10 million euros for the renovation and rededication of the tower.[3] Today it houses the Hans Wegner Museum, which was named after the local manufacturer of chair furniture and illustrates the development of seating furniture with a collection of chair models that are all uniquely designed. Since the renovation and rededication of the water tower, the top of the tower has had a weather vane with the inscription “Museum”.
