Prince Günther I von Schwarzburg-Sondershausen left the royal palace in Arnstadt from 1729 to 1734 as a later widow's residence for his wife Elisabeth Albertine, b. Building Princess of Anhalt-Bernburg. It served as a double palace in the form of a three-wing system, the residential and representational needs of the princely couple.
